My fiance absolutely loves shrimp in our aquaria (55g, and 29g). The 55 is a community tank, and the 29 is a Dwarf puffer tank. Normally we get lots of ghost shrimp as tankmates, and sort of live-in food. We had a wood shrimp for several months which eventually died, and we just got some kind of striped wood-shrimpish shrimp which is striped and smaller.

My question is, what is the life span of these larger filter-feeding shrimps? Months? A year?

They turn bright redish orange in good water.

mine shedded and is that color. they are very hard to care for.if to are together in a small tank they will fight. they are filter feeders that grow atleast 3 inches

Before my power outage (18 hours and the temp dipped to 60), I had two. They didn't fight and they were together for four months. They stayed together and cuddled 90% of the time.

Actually, when they close their fans, they turn into little spikes, but I never say them use them.
