Gravel from the LFS

I bought some bags of gravel for a new tank I'll be setting up soon. Am I supposed to "wash" the gravel before putting it in the tank? I know not to use detergents or soaps on anything tank related; I guess I'm asking if I'm supposed to rinse the gravel and if so, how much?

yeah wash it until is clear

Rinse until the water runs off clear. Normal tap water is fine, just be sure to use a chlorine/chloramine neutrelizer afterword. An easy way to test the runoff is get a solo cup that is white on the inside, and catch the runoff underneath the strainer that you are washing your detergent in. If its clear, your good.

That's what I did. I just ran the gravel through a strainer into a large white bowl twice until the water wasn't showing anymore signs of the brown color from the gravel.

Do that and you'll be good to go!
