just started my 1st SW, 75g. all i got is a 2x40w flos, i was thinking about 2x175w MHs and keepin the flos. just fish for now, but i want coral in the future.

anyone think this will be enough??

thanks

that will be fine for anythign you wanat to keep. you cant keep anything anywhere though. but you can keep anything

woops!! sorry... i meant, "you cant keep everything everywhere"

acros, anemones and clams are goign to need to be right under the halides and not on the bottom of the tank far away form them.

the lights are some beefy 175MH i tried growin reefer with. i was just gonna pop in some aquarium bulbs and voila. anyone see a problem there??

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!
or lord....
ANYWAYS, hey will work, but the ballast might not produce the PAR that something like an ice cap ballast would. however, i am nto sure seeing how i dnot grow reefer...
what is the brand?

and i'm glad you have moved onto better things  :)

PAR? not sure what that is..but wouldnt be all up to the bulb??

Photosynthetic Availible Radiation
there are some factors that affect the PAR such as the bulb (as you said) reflector, and even the K rating of the bulb (color spectrum). but the ballast also has a lot to do with it.
