One of my female guppies (3 males, 4 females, & fry), is hiding in one of the java ferns. It's the second time I've caught her doing it in the past 24 hours. She's sitting completely still on the ground between two leaves, only thing that is moving is her fins (like treading water) and her eyes. She may have given birth somewhat recently as I saw some fry in the plants when I was cleaning it two days ago and the other 3 females still have really dark gravid spots.
I just went to check on her and she's the same, except now she's got a big poop hanging from her.
Should I leave her alone and let her be, or should I try to qt her? I have a 5 gallon hex that I can set up and use...

She might just be tired. Childbirth certainly will tire her out. I've also noticed that my female guppies would tend to hide both during and after giving birth. So that might be it. Has she been like this the entire last 24 hours? Or is it just something that you've noticed now and then?

I've noticed that most of my guppies will sleep on the bottom exactly like you are describing.

You mentioned poop... does it look normal?

I think she's fine, but would keep an eye on her just in case. But, if you have a lot of other fish in there though and think she might be ill, it wouldn't hurt to put her in QT for a while. Perhaps she did give birth and the males won't leave her alone and give her a chance to rest. Minimally, you'll give her some relaxation time.
