Well, I mainly keep small schooling fish which make naming kind of hard, but my two orandas were named Aristotle and Socrates. I'm not sure what that says about me...

I used to name my fish when I first started fishkeeping, but I stopped recognizing them by their names and purely by their species (if that makes any sense) when I learned more about them and their characteristics..

I name fish, but only when a good name comes to me. My little orange sailfi molly is called Creamcicle .

My 2 juvenile platies are named the following: bubba (aka bubba sparx) and manifest destiny (coz this platy is such a survivor when the adults wanted to eat him when he was a fry).

big getting bigger green fish with long trailers
spotted fish who will get the biggest
happy greenies who stay on bottom
cruising black/red sharkie
roly poly funny baby fishies
elegant small long finned couple
the rawhide bunch (rollin' rollin' rollin', keep them fishies rollin')

I name all my fish. My Danios are, Zip, Zap, Zig, Zag, and Zoey. My Convicts are Quiver and Connie and my Firemouth are Sunset and Sunrise. My Upside-Downers are Cookoo, Pizzazy, and Coconut. My Cories are Huggles, Snuggles, Smudgey, Smoshi, Butter Scotch, Freckles, Creamsicle, Popsicle, Peppercorn, and Pebbles. My Three-Spot is Beer and my CAE is Icicle.

I stopped naming mine ... not that I have a lot of mortality, but it's easier for me to lose a fish known only by its species name, than one I chose for it. Personalization makes loss worse. And I'm a wuss.

Can't name mine...everytime I do they end up dying....
Started with my first fishtank as an adult living on my own...

Hotlips the white goldfish with orange lips
Hawkeye the other goldfish
Burns the pleco...

Hotlips ate Hawkeye and started in on Burns...

Now I have a male and female royal blue betta splendens, and I just refer to them as "he" and "she".......lol

It always has been for me...everyone else has a name...and they are still alive...must just be the fishies that have issues...

The turtles are named after medieval armor (Half-plate, Full-plate, Ring, and Banded), the dogs (Issac and Xander) and cats (Confucious, Cambian, Constantine {who will only answer to the name "Pinky" thanks to my husband}, and Connor, are named after famous people. Bearded dragon is Jupiter, and the parakeet is pseudo-mob name "Bird-face"........pretty eccentric...
You have several horses, right? What are their names? I'd really like to get a pair of Belgian geldings when we build our new house..named after my two favorite LotR Rohim characters... Theoden and Eomer.

I don't name my fish, my daughter does sometimes. I did have a snail named Gary (of course). After Gary went on to the great Bikini Bottom in the sky, I stopped naming snails.
