So my cat that NEVER goes outside somehow managed to pick up fleas. I have no clue how it happened but I picked up some Advantage today to take care of the problem.

Now my question is that I also bought some home spray from the vet. She did ask me if I had a tank and if so to cover up any pumps...well mine are canisters so that won't be an issue but should I cover my entire tank with something and if so will do you all think that will be sufficient? She said the directions on the spray says for all humans and pets to stay out of the house for 3 to 4 hours after use.

Ahhhh....fleas.....I have 2 dogs and 5 cats and have been there. I haven't had to bomb with my tanks in the house yet though :bowing: I would tape garbage bags completely around the tank if I were in that situation though. Similar to if you were trying to black out the tank bc of algae.

WIth four cats and two dogs in the house..know whre you are coming from. What I normally do..put the avantage on the animals and the fleas magically dissappear. Never have yused any household spray.

If you do choose this route, shut down all filters air pumps etc going to your tank. wrap everything with a garbage bag and seal with tape. When you return home, air the hosue out completely before unsealing your tanks and equipment.

Thanks for the advise. After the cat is history(who knows how long that will be) Then the only animals in my house will be of the swimming variety.

I don't know about Advantage; I use Frontline on the cats' necks and the fleas are gone practically overnight. You just have to reapply every couple of months.

We use frontline and the house seems to clear of fleas as well without the spray, but advantage and revolution work just as well.

I would not spray. The once a month flea treatments are designed to kill fleas and eggs in the cats living spaces and are much more efficient than sprays. Went throught the same thing a few months ago and treating the cats took care of everything.

Dont spray unless your cat becomes absolutly miserable. Just try to handle the fleas with advantage. If you do be sure to take all the air pumps out of your house compleatly. And do tape black trashbags around your tank. and then do it again incase there is a leak.
