hey guys i got my new corys today and one has none of the "barbs?" around his mouth, i remember reading that this means he will mostlikly died because he will not be able to find food...is this correct?
It is possible for their barbs to grow back with clean water and good care. Keep an eye on him when you feed them - if he has trouble getting to the food you may need to separate him until he starts doing better. No need to give up just yet!
I would go ahead and quarentine, start salting him some, and keep your water CLEAN, im talking like 3 water changes a week. Keep him in perfect water conditions. His barbs should grow back. Hopefully they will...
k well i have talked to my dad, and bascially he reminded me that the guy at the store should have checked to see if he had all his barbs (i meen it is pretty easy to see) and i agree with that so i will be taking him back tonight to replace him
Please don't return the Cory! I have a Cory that had very short barbels when I got her from the pet store. Now after feeding her good food and having clean water her barbels are fully grown back. If you return her, theres a better chance she'll die because somebody that probably wont know that much about fish will get her.
I would just keep her. Theres a better chance she'll die if you return her because of all the stress of being put in a bag, carried, and then put in another tank.
