i plan on replacing the filters on my 90 gal central amarican cichilid tank. the tank is been running stable for over a year now, except that it clouds over every other month. right now i have 2 aquaclear 500's. im thinking about replacing them with a eheim 2026. will it be enough, or should i leave one of the ac's still runing, thanks in advance for any help!

I'd keep them all running. As long as your flow rate is creating massive currents that prevent the fish from standing still, over filtration never hurts. The clouding ups are usually bacterial blooms, so this may help. What's your tank stocked with and how often do you feed?

I would also keep everything running. Overfiltration, like Voodoo said, is good.

What is it that you do every other month, that makes the weater cloud up? Is that when you vacuum the gravel?

the tank is stocked with a jaguar cicilid, jack dempsey, sinsylum(not shuure on the spelling), 3 redhook silver dollars, and a pleco. i think my parents do water changes every week now (were doing it every month, got some bad advice form someone who just lost all his fish, not listening to him anymore). im 7 hours away at school so i cant make it back every wekend for tank maitnence. gravel is vacumed every water change. i think it might be that they havent touched the filter media sicne i cleaned it winter break. i konw they wouldnt mind doing the water changes so long as they can see the fish there taking care of. and the blooms occur randomly after a water change. feedings every other day. any help apreciated. thanks again!
