I recently bought the Python and I love it. I can take the water out of the tank easily enough, but what's the best way to put it back in (150G SW)?

Currently, I'm using the Python to add the water to a container and then using buckets.

How can I use the Python to add directly to the tank? Is there a way to do this and add the salt (and buffer) safely?

Oops- I meant to write this in the Saltwater Forum, sorry.

Hmm.. I don't know if this would work, but it might be something worth considering:

Set up a large enough water holding device for all the new water (rubber tub, trash can, I dunno) above the water level of your tank. Use the python to fill that, mix up the salt, get the temp correct etc, then start a weak siphon from the holding device to the tank and let it fill.

I'm not sure how practical this would actually be, but in theory it sounds good to me :D

I have always used my python to put water in as well from the tap...but I am a freshwater keeper and live in Texas where our tap water is 80 degrees. (of course I se prime or other dechlorinators)...

BUT...the thought crossed my mind (keep in mind I don't know alot about saltwater)...could you do the same while putting in a salt drip as the water comes in? I do light salt drips every water change for the health of the fish skin...maybe yours could just be faster and stronger solution.

Just a thought....

Thanks for tolerating my idea without knowledge of saltwater tanks!

And it sounds good to me as well. I've thought of this but it would be difficult. I have a 150gal and it's about 5-feet high. When I do a water change, it's comes out to just under 45 gallons (25%). I do use a large tub but am not sure how I would get that 5' in the air to start a suction down into the tank.

Thanks baf. The saltwater drip would be perfect if I could just figure out how to get the 40gals above the tank water level. :)
