I have 13 congo tetras in my 75 gal tank. I haven't ever seen a reference that tells what their habitat is-river? lake? still or flowing? Mine appear to prefer relatively still water.
The whole tank has lots of hiding places, many plastic plants, driftwood and rocks. Generally they are in the center or left hand third of the tank, milling about in the open. Usually when they reach the turbulence from the filter return they turn back to the quieter water. After I turn the light out they get more active and don't school as tightly. I'd like to install a moonlight so the light change isn't so abrupt, which seems to frighten or excite them-plus they are beautiful under lower light.
I want to add a canister filter and thought I'd put the water return at the opposite end from the HOB, but I wonder if that will suit the congos. Should I put it at the same end as the HOB?
the danios seem to love the turbulence. And I want to add dwarf loaches, which would probably prefer turbulence.
