Just wondering if Bristlenoses sort of lounge around all day?

My little boy that I just got was not active at all today. Just moved a small distance.

Do they come alive at night?

Pleco's are noctournal fish, so yah, he comes alive at night. During the day, he'll hide out in some driftwood, and might make small forays but don't expect much. He's also brand new to your tank, right? Let him get settled in, pick out his hiding spots, and get comfy. Teasing him out in the evening with a lightly poached slice of zuchini will get the little guy moving, and shrimp pellet treats will get him wiggling. He might have a taste for algae wafer too.

As he grows more comfortable, you may see him out more in the day. For night viewing, an LED blue moonlight will make all the difference in the world. How big a tank?

He has lots of holes to go into.

He has been having home grown zuchinni put into his tank every night, but I dont think it looks eaten when I take it out in the morning.

Going to the LFS tomorrow, so will get some other food for him.

Also gave him homegrown peas.

We use no chemicals or pesticides on our vegetables, so they are very safe.

Tank size is 20gallon and he has 3 guppies and 1 angelfish as friends.

If he's never had it before, he might not recognize it as food. To help give him an idea that zuchini is tasty stuff, you can try soaking the piece in garlic water before putting it in the tank. This acts as an appetite stimulant, and garlic promotes some good health in fish, just like in people. You don't have to do it all the time, just when you need to stimulate him to new foods.

Ok I will do that. I have homegrown garlic too, so no pesticides.

you still need to boil the zucchini for 45-60 seconds, even if you don't use chemicals. it softens it up a bit and kills any fungus spores that may be present, which can be harmful if running loose in your tank.
