For those of you who house a betta in a 2.5 gallon tank, what else do you have in the tank for decorations? There's not much room in there and I was wondering what type of pieces do your bettas seem to enjoy? Thanks!
Oh, and I would love to see pictures of your little tanks if you are willing to share.

No pictures at the moment but I do have a 2 and 1/2 gallon betta tank. I have some floating plants in there for him since he seems to love them and builds his bubble nests in them. I also have a small rock that he can hide behind if he wants to.

When I only had one betta, I kept mine on some lovely white pebble gravel with an artificial plant whose branches brushed the water's surface (for him to nest around and rest on when he slept) and at the bast of that plant I had a conch-shaped aquairum ornament with two openings that he'd hide in when he was feeling shy.
When I was keeping bettas on a larger scale for breeding, each one had a small hexagon-shaped quart-sized tank with inch of gravel and a plant that trailed to the top of the water. That allowed them a degree of safety and privacy. Some of the males I left plantless or used silk to reduce the risk of damage on those lovely trailing fins.
I never kept my females together. Some of them were simply too 'catty' to handle one another's company very well. ^_^;;

plant wise, stick to silk or real.

I keep my betta in a 6g hexagon tank. (One of those eclipse tanks) I have a large silk plant in there with about 1inch of river rock and a bit of java fern. He is very content. Ive had him for about 2 years now like that. 15w of incandescent light - which is more then the java really needs, so I have to keep trimming it back every month or so. No problems with that setup at all.

I had a betta, kept him in a semi large tank by himself for 3yrs (until he passed away).
He was absolutley beautiful, friendly and would eat from your hand.
Hes name was Shadowfax after the white arab from LOTR.
Anyways, we just had lots of elodia plant for him to eat and hide in.
He ate betta flakes and freeze dried blood worms, he wasnt interested in any other foods.
Its nice to hear people are putting them in bigger tanks than the tiny little ones you see them in at the fish shop.
