I've had a 29 Gallon setup going now for about 3 months. The tank at the moment has 3 black widow tetras, 1 spotted cory, 1 upside down cat, and 1 albino rainbow shark. I added the tetra's first and began cycling the tank. I then slowly added the other fish over the following next few months. I'd like to add more fish now and would like some suggestions for what would be good fish to get for my setup. I dunno if i should get more cleaners or jusst some more fish that are nice looking and active. I do want all the fish I have to remain friendly towards each other and any new additions. The albino as yet has not been harassing to the other fish and i'm hoping it stays that way but he has staked out his territory. Any suggestions please let me know.

Hi,

I heard Rainbow Sharks can be aggressive, so I woul return him, just to be on the safe side. You need more Cories! They need to be kept in groups and you should get about four more. I would also get more Black Skirts because they like to be in shoals. After that, you could get about 10 Zebra Danios. They are very hardy and add a lot of life to the tank.

Hope this helps!

Hey,

I have really enjoyed having the Cory since I got him. The Albino rainbow and him have so far seemed to get along. They will try to push each other out of the way from time to time in search of food but no fins have been nipped. I think I might keep him, but I do like the Idea of getting more Cory's and black skirts. I'm wondering though, would the albino shark and maybe a couple Tiger barbs be ok in a 10 Gallon setup I have plans to put together? Jusst an idea.

get at least 3 more blackskirt tetras (the albino ones look awsome, just dont get dyed ones), and 3 more cories. and keep the shark i have a shark and its probably the most peaceful fish in the tank.
and mabye get another school of tetras, i would say either glo lights or black neons

the rainbow shark will start to attack the corydoras.

you need to get at least 3 more black skirts, but more is better. you should also get 3 more corydoras after you return the rainbow shark.

For added punch, if you decide to do danios (which are very 'zippy' and dart about the tank a lot). Go for variety!! I kept albinos, leopard, and zebra types with long-fin and normal-fin varieties. The great thing about danios is that you can have quite a few in a 29-gallon, they add great movement, there are many varieties to choose from, and once established, they are RIDICULOUSLY hardy!! But with me and my loooove of neons, I'd add a few of them for a splash of color. And of course your blackskirt tetras change up the size and shape of your fish and add some shimmer.

And as for the 10-gallon idea, sounds like the tiger barbs and the shark would go together nicely as far as color and aesthetics. Plus I believe they have a similarly fiesty personality and the barbs are quick little fellas, so I think that'd work out well.

Hi,

Nope, the Rainbow shark would get way too big for a 10 gallon. And the Tiger Barbs are way too active for a 10 gallon. I would just return the shrak before he starts causing problems.

Happy fish keeping!

not only are tiger barbs to active for a 10 gallon, but they need much larger schools than a 10 gallon will allow. 12 is a minimum to keep aggression within the school down.
