There is a LFS that sells Flourite (7 kg bag) for about $30 and also Eco-Complete (20 lbs. bag) for about $33. Which one should I get, as the prices are pretty close?
Are there any advantages/disadvantages to picking one over the other?

You don't have to rinse the Eco-Complete. But Eco-Complete can mess with your water hardness. This seems to be a on and off problem with the Eco-Complete.
But you should also consider the color.

also Flourite is about 15 pounds so you will be getting more Eco-Complete for your money.

Rex: I don't think the hardness will be a problem for the fishes... I'd like a dark coloured substrate, usually.
ergo: Roughly the same price => http://www.bigalsonline.ca/BigAlsCA/ctl3664/cp18061/cl0/plantsubstrates?viewType=Category
Eco-Complete => $35, Flourite => $30
Would it make a difference if I buy from the US site or would I need to buy from the canadian site?
Okay then, I'll be getting the Eco-Complete :)
Thank you very much for the replies.
