Night Owl Clown Loaches

Is it normal for my clown loaches to be active only at night? The only time they come out of there loach motel is after the lights have gone out.

I know i need to get them a couple of friends (i'm planning to do that this weekend) and i know that my tank isnt big enough to hold them when full grown (working on it).

thats totally normal if you want to see them more during the day cut the lights out a bit or get some moonlights to view them at night mine are fairly nocturnal unless food is present then they are right out in front.
