Sadly my betta died a couple days ago. I have no idea how he died. He looked fine and all the parameters where fine. It was a 5 gallon. Now I'm wondering what to put in it. Any suggestions?

I'm a sucker for tetras and white clouds... I'd put 3 neons and 2 clouds in a fiver... or two-two-and a corydoras to clean the bottom. It'd provide some lovely color and a little variety. Just make sure you keep the heat up for those neons!! ^__^

I have a couple of guppies and 3 panda corys. This way you have both top and bottom feeders. Slight OS though, so you'd have to do more frequent water changes, but I've never had any problems.

Any kind of dwarf gourami need a tank size of 10g MIN!
Bigger ones need bigger tanks.. never put one in a 5g!:joe:
there is only one species of dwarf gourami, colisa lalia, and they get to around 2.5 inches long and will do fine in a 5 gallon long by themselves. there is another gourami considered "dwarf" and that is the honey gouramis, colisa sorta, which only gets to around 2 inches long and will do fine in a 5 gallon also.

Hi,

IMO a 5 gallon is too small for Cories, so scratch that idea out. You could get three Endler's Livebearer and two ADFs, or a Betta, some shrimp, and a ADF.

Neons, white clouds and cories are all schooling fish, and need to be kept in groups. 6 is best, although this may be less important for cories. Nonetheless all must have company. Also, 5gal is not really sufficient for active swimmers like tetras (you realy want at least 18"). You could go for 6 dwarf cories though. Maybe a lone dwarf puffer (perhaps with some otos). there are loads of possibilities...

:)

I need to stock my 5 gal. later also...

What about:

2 cories, 1 betta OR
1 betta, 4 ghost shrimp OR
4-5 zebra danios OR
3-4 lemon tetras?
