I have a 55gal aquarium and it has dried alge or something on the inside of the glass, water wont rinse it off i literally have to scrape it off..

any suggestions as to how to get this clean? do I even need to clean it or will it filter off eventually?

thanks all

Peroxide does a good job cleaning off stuff, too. I just use a big bottle from the drug store.

Vinegar and water does a real good job and you don't have to worry about residue from bleach or peroxide. Rinse it well of course, but the worst thing any leftover vinegar will do is lower the PH. Use a razor blade for the stubborn dried up algae---but be careful at the seams.

you could also make a paste with salt and water to use as a mild abrasive. Whatever you decide to use, make sure to rinse it very well. Before you stock the tank, fill it all the way up and let it sit for a few days to check for leaks.
