looks like a regular brig apple snail to me.
no, the algae will not be enugh. you can supplement his diet with fish food of any kind.

How long does it take snails to warm up to their new homes. I Just ploped him in a few hours ago. I could see him moving in the shell because it was on the back. I thought I should tip it so the opening was facing the rocks. I thought he might not be able to flip him self over. He was like that for about 2 hours and did not seem to be coming out of his shell. I put the opening of the shell flat aginst the side of the tank. He was coming out. I think the flash on my cam scared him.

I reccomend using sinking algae wafers, as flakes do not have a high enough content of vegitable matter for them, which they need.
