I am pretty much a newbie here but have been reading quite a bit over the last month and have finally got my tank up and running. I have read so much about tattoed fish, glowing fish, and painted fish. I had not seen any until yesterday.
In my fav LFS, best in town- i finally saw parrot Fish who were all sorts of colors, purple, blue, green pink, and some magenta color. All i could do was walk away, they were hideous. What does everyone else thnk about this??

I saw ones at a LFS that were tattooed "I Love (with a heart) You" on their sides in addition to painted on red lips.
I saw one with a heart on its side. I thought it was sickening. TMy LFS told me the former owner brought it in (then they rolled their eyes, which signaled to me that did not support it).

SIGH.....
I see painted WS tetras at wal-mart all the time, thank god my LFS doesn't carry them.

Do the fish get these tattoos after getting drunk and spending the night on the town.
When I got mine I just closed my eyes and pretended there was a girl there with a whip. I do this at the dentist to. It would help if the dentist wore leather pants.
Poor fish :( The amount of their bodies covered with ink would be equal to a humon getting his wole back done in one sitting. Not to bring up that are they out of water? No wonder so many die.

I had to stop going to one of my favorite LFS after they started selling died parrots. I stoped in one day and the owner wasnt there but his wife was explainging to a young couple and there 2 kids that they were colored that way because they mixed food coloring in with the eggs before they were born (from everything i have ever read this is not true) and that a Blood parrot would be perfect for the 20 gallon (give or take) hexagon tank they were buying the same day.
I hate to say it, but i now preffer the local petsmart. At least my petsmart dosent sell died fish. Plus there several employees that are quite knowledgeable.

I am slowly but surely moving toward PetSmart. They have put some money into better filtration and the prices are hard to beat. They have this 10 for $10 thing going on right now.
I also noticed that they hired some more knowledgable associates. I hope that it keeps up.
