Ok, I have what I think is a yellow lab...have always thought it to be, it's not changing or anything but while looking through other post's here I came across one with a pic of what the person said was a yellow lab (looks pretty much like mine) and in the post was told it is NOT a yellow lab so I am adding a pic here please tell me because I really think it looks like the one that was in the pic.....

i'm not sure why you're confused ... your fish is, like the ones in the pictures, a yellow Labidochromis (Labidochromis caeruleus) ... they all look the same to me.

Well, I thought it was and did look like the others. But in the thread I posted the person was told his/her's was NOT a lab that is why I was confused? Thanks for the reasurance there, I have had fish before that I thought was one thing then found out later it was something else.

Hey quick question to you live2, you seem to know alot about cichlids so I was wondering...I have just the one lab I know they should be in a group of like 5 or so right how big of a tank should I get to do this in would a 30 be to small? Right now I have a 75 that isn't set up yet and want to make it a discus tank I thought about adding them in there but as you said in my discus post that wouldn't be a good idea, I have my 55 that I have cichlids in they are a complete mix and I am trying to fix things so they will stay happy and healthy so I am trying to separate them a bit. My biggest consern is my Lab I want to get him/her into his/her own tank with mates but I'm also trying to set up this 75 so I need something smaller right now (money ya know) so I need to know what would be the smallest tank I could go with and how many would be a good number.

Thanks for all your help!!!

Gin

hey gin:

a 30 is too small but a 40 gallon breeder size would manage 4-5 of them providing you did 50 percent weekly water changes.

Ok, thank you liv2 I will start looking for at least a 40 then. I have to do something for them.

Thanks again,
