The German Blue Rams I got for Christmas got pretty comfortable fast. They have already staked out a rock and the female is laying eggs as I type this and the male is going along doing his thing. I don't really know what to do next. I have no more tanks, heaters, filters, or anything. So this is gonna have to play out in the tank they are in (see my sig). Any advice? The only problem I see as of right now is that the eggs are only a few inches off the filter intake. What should I do about that? I've heard about wrapping a sponge around the intake, but how do I know a brand new sponge won't have some sort of chemical in it that could harm the fish? And will it put labor on my filter?

If (BIG IF) fry do arrive, will I be ok feeding them some finely crushed flake, tubifex, bloodworm? How about some frozen baby brine? How long do I wait to feed?

Thanks!!!

Lights have been off on the tank for a while now and mom and dad aren't doing a very good job! LOL! There's about three ghost shrimp over at the rock chowing down and dad is just sitting there watching. I guess what goes around comes around as the other day the Rams were going around eating the eggs the Harlequins were laying on the underside of plants leaves.

Here's a link to pics of the tank. The Rams have picked some small flat rocks behind the driftwood on the left side of the tank to spawn.

rams dont make very good parents, whenever mine spawned, the eggs were eaten by tankmates, and when they hatched..they were eaten by the parents

they'll keep at it though, so just hope for the best

Ah, well... everyone (including mom and dad) in the tank ate all the eggs within a couple days. Which is fine with me, I wasn't really looking forward to raising fry at this point anyway. :)
