Hello everyone, I am new to marine aquariums but have been reading and have been very interested for awhile. Here are pictures of my set up and some inhabitants while I wait for my aquarium to settle. Does anyone know what kind of anemone this guy is? He came in on some live rock, as well as a brittle star. Also, the aquarium has been set up for a week now and my ammonia level is about 0.25, nitrite level is 0, nitrate is 20, alkalinity is above 300 and ph is between 8.0 and 8.4. Any ideas how soon I could bring in some new fish? Thanx!

Nice! What kind of live rock is that?

Live rock

If you mean the last piece of rock, I got it about a year ago off a beach on the Queen Charlotte Islands. It has been sitting on a shelf until a week ago when I included it in the aquarium!

hi caneoguy,
Nice set up just thought i`d give a little advice to you before your little friend on the 4th picture down starts growing more friends that he is a Aiptasia and his name is Majano they spread fast once food starts hitting the tank & just like aiptasia anenomes they sting fish/corals & in time over take the tank i know they look cool but i started with one & ended up with 12 had to buy a product called joes juice to feed them & destroy them as they started to spring up in places i did not want them so be a good idea to kill him before his friends come along & gate crash your newly set tank

Yikes!

I will try to get Joe's Jiuce as quick as I can! I also have about 6 brittle worms...very small and very fast, but from what I have read I shouldn't worry about these guys as of yet, correct?

very cool indeed! your mollies will breed like mad if they are in the marine system , good steady supply if you have carnivoric fish
