I`m quite new to this game and have a 4ft tank with 2 small Tiger Oscars both about 2.5". I know they grow quite large, but I need some help choosing what other fish to include:

I really want something large for the bottom of the tank, I`m keen on the Catfish and Plec.

Also my aquarium is quite dull, as the Oscars aren`t very colourfull, so I`m thinking of getting something colourfull that will be OK with the Oscars.

Any ideas anyone?

A 4 ft tank is probably only big enough for two oscars and a bottom feeder. Adding any other fish, they would either be eaten or harrased/harras the oscars and possibly die/kill an oscar. Add some nice rock formations and silk plants, I guarantee you the tank will look great soon as those oscars get bigger and develope their color. How big is your tank exactly? I'm guessing it's larger than a 55 gallon.

I guestimated my tank to be 40 UK gallons using the formula (h*w*l)/277. I think thats UK gallons.

Anyway its 48"*16"*15". I really want something more colourfull. Are parrot fish a no no?
