As an idea, I think we should create a product review section where we can leave reviews for products.

I'm thinking about adding a canister filter to my new 55g. What are people's opinions on Eheim's, Rena's and Fluval's? I'm just starting my research, so any comments are welcome.

Thanks!

Eheim is the best of the best. Rena is a lot cheaper and works well. I HATE Fluval ... low quality in my opinion.

ehiem is the best IMO. my dad has two on a 250G with a very large common pleco who eats and poops like a small cow, and they keep the water crystal clear.

Early on I'm seeing Eheim as the front runner.

1) Eheim has like 5 models. Which one?
2) Eheim is expensive, what brand is peoples second choice (Rena, Fluval, another brand?)

If I wasn't on a budget, Eheim. However, price was a concern for me, I purchased a RENA XP3. It is quite, 2 different Outlfow options (Jet or Spraybar), easy to setup, easy to clean.

No complaints so far at all.

I got me a Eheim Classic for $60 off of Ebay. Works great, no noise. Perfectly happy with it.

If your not loaded, go with Rena. If you can afford to give up a limb, go with Ehiem as they really are the best

Rena Filstars are not as high quality as Eheims but considering they're less than half the price they're great bang for the buck. I have a Filstar XP3 and a Eheim 2229 wet/dry on my 90 gallon and they're both doing a stellar job.
