I use regular tap water in my tank, treated only w/
prime. I also have alien populations of pond snails. My question is, if there is copper
in my water, would it have already killed off my snails? And if not, can I use this as a
safe way to tell wether or not i can put in some shrimp w/ out having them die?

Shrimp are more sensitive to copper than snails. I would start out with some feeder ghost shrimp to see if your water will work if you are worried about it.
