I have two bichirs. I noticed today that there are these tiny light brown things floating around in the tank. They seem to move on their own and some attach themselves to my bichirs and also detach themselves. What are they? If they are to be a concern how to I treat them?

Do you have a picture? If they are staying attached to the bichars then they would be parasitic. I want to say planeria but Ive never heard of it attching to a fish before.

I scrolled down awhile and BOOM! a platty with its body cut open...ewww.
Surprising if it is parasites though.... bichirs are supposed to be notoriously risilient against most external parasites. How long have you had your senegals? I've had 'Reptar' for 6 months now. I'd love to talk fish with you sometime...
