I've had a Piebald morph male and a orange female She show her ovipositor and laid eggs around 5 inches. The Red Devils were in a 75g. They are pretty hard to sex and breed(my experiece, cause i knew people who breed them with ease)
Males have longer finnage and have larger Nuchal humps.
Im sure there's more.
As for breeding I used a screen divider and when she would show her ovipositer I would take it out of the tank. They would display their fins extending, lock jawing and the Tail wagging. They would pair(i woke up to them as a pair with eggs) Sometimes unfortunatly this method doesn't always works.
You could try the incomplete divider method. Cut a hole for just the smaller fish to escape when thing get "bad".
Hope this helps?!?
