:help: I have a female betta and near her gills it looks like she is bleeding but I can see no blood in the water. Anyone know what might be wrong?
I dont think my camera is good enough for that.can you post a pic???
Not sure about the first question.dark redness in the gill area is usually a sign of bad water quality. toxin buildup can cause what is essentialy chemical burns to the sensitive flesh of the gills.
what are your readings for ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate?
what is the betta kept in?
any tankmates? do they show any symptoms?
I would move it.. to another tank atleast so it can heal
Three female bettas together in a 10-g? I hope it has plenty of hidey-holes and is well furnished with plants and rocks and stuff. Bettas, even females, can get pretty agressive with one another at times and need to be able to literally disappear out of each other's sight to keep from seriously injuring one another.
Maybe so. She is the smallest of the bunch. She might have flared at one of the other females and been rewarded with a nasty bite to her extended gills, perhaps?
