Whats the thin white build-up in my tubing and plumbing? When I tap or twist the tubing it dislodges and goes all over my tank, like snow. It clears up reasonably quick thought. I like to keep my plumbing clean. Should I leave it?
 
If it is that white stuff that gets on the filter intakes and the filter itself, the best thing to remove it is vinegar. It should remove it quite easily.

It's just a bio-film that builds up in canister tubing and such. It is harmless so long as it's not blocking the flow of anything. You should definitely clean it every so often, and as you've discovered it dislodges easily by squeezing or twisting tubing.
