Hello,
Yesterday I had bought 2 Electric Blue Haps. I know that the female is not as colorfull as the male. Does the Male have to "grow" into his colors? or did i get to females.

thanks,
I know that the males are blue, and females are a little more drab. But do the males change color with size? and age? Everything I've researched does not give any indication that they grow into their colors. So I might assume that I have 2 females.
i moved this too cichlids for you.
anyway to answer your question yes to a certain point the juvi will be more drab in colour and will get better with age.
the question for you is what size do you have.

at two inche syou should see some color, at three inches there should be enough color to know for sure that it is a male. :)

Thank you,
That info is most helpful. I can't wait for the colors. They are a welcome addition to my tank.

Thanks for the replies.
The information makes me think, I might have a male and a female. In certain spots in the tank, one fish seems more colorfull than the other. I hope this is a pre-cursor to true blue..
