How do you attach 1/2 PVC to Eheim water pumps?

I got a Eheim 1250 water pump today as my Mag-5 is way too loud.

However, it seems that the output hole is too small to screw a male 1/2 adapter PVC piece into it. The input hole is large enough but not the output. It comes with adapters but nothing seems to match up to my PVC.

Anyone have a solution?

Thanks for responding. That what I ended up having to do. It created a lot of extra work and a reconfiguration but hey... at least it works now, and it's quiet.

i have been wanting to try one of those pumps but they just dont flow enough for the application i would be using it for.

Would you suggest buying one if I need something in that flow range? I wondered if they are as good as their name.
