Gouramis

Can any one tell me if Gouramis only breed with their kind....
Eg Can Pearl and Gold Gouramis breed?
I'm sure the answer is no however it's always nice to check these things!

they will probably breed with their own kind. gold gouramis are extremely aggressive and would kill the pearls anyway.

It goes by species. Two species won't breed.

Variants can and sometimes will interbreed, as they are the same species to begin with.

I'd like to get 2 good centerpiece fish for my 29 gallon tank. I think gourami are great looking fish. What specific breed would you suggest?

I think either 2 pearls or 2 blue gouramis would look very nice.

1 Male and 1 Female Pearl would be good the male will display a wonderful orange throat and chest, or 2 Kissers would be fun to watch.

I wouldn't put kissing gouramis in a 29 because they can grow to a foot in length.
I'd go with a couple of pearls, I think they're the prettiest, and they only get 6 inches at the most.
Three spot variants are pretty neat too, I have a fullgrown opaline.

Pearls become more colorful though and get a nice skirt. They're less aggressive also.

Hi, I am new here and to Tropical fsih and having read this thread I am worried!

I have two gold gourami, male and female, and was considering, actually Planning...to add two pearl and two 3 spot to the tank, which is a 300ltr...

I have one Angelfish (sadly we bought two but one refused to eat and 3 days later was found dead in the tank) and some tetras which were my Suicide squad and a couple of Mollies - along with a nursery tank for the molly babies....

Can I add another 4 Gourami safely????

I am thinking about buying 4 opaline gouramis. I currently have 5 giant dainos in a 30g tank. Will the gouramis be ok?
