Here's a pic of the 20long viv with the citronella and oelemari in it......it had gotten all over grown and tangled looking...had the day off today and thought I would tidy it up a bit...

AWSOME!!!! That 2nd pic of yours is especially great!! There were some unbelievably gorgeous dart frogs at the Lowery Park Zoo last time I was in Fla.
Like a yellow orange but sooo bright!! They looked rubber. Good job!!

Blackwolf........BlackJungle up in Greenfield, Mass is where I get my frogs and supplies. REally cool store with lots of darts and vivs..and racks and racks of driftwood and they also have thier own greenhouse full of tropical plants.

A link to thier website...you'll find some info there as to keeping and caring for darts...and also some "how tos" into setting up vivs. http://www.blackjungle.com/home.htm

I feed my frogs on flightless friutflies and have to keep a running supply at all times. I make my own cultures and have a shelf full of plastic fly containers full of flies...fun...hehe...

They really aren't difficult to keep at all...much easier than fish tanks....lol...

I agree, the second photo is very cool! Why do you have a hard time taking pictures of it? Is it just reclusive, or is it scared of the camera?

They are very nice critters MQ !

They really weren't that bad pricewise.....the G&B was only 25$.... The Oelemari was 40$ and the Citronella was 45$ ........Caught them all on sale at BlackJungle.

As far as breeding.....both the citronella and the oelemari are female....the G&B is a male, but....wrong subspecies....lol. I do want to get a hold of a pair of something and breed them....probably one or the other of these here...

The first one is a Tinctorius "Oyapok"...and they seem to do well in groups...I'd like to get that 40 setup and put a pair of those in there and see what they can produce !

The other is a Tinctorius "Patricia"....I really love the coloring of those. I saw a mature pair at BlackJungle....just beautiful !

That G&B is always hiding....hates coming out where you can see him. I made a mistake when I bought him....thought he was a Tinctorius, which get larger and are much more bold...the citronella and oelemari are tincs...and they're ALWAYS out and about.

They do have tinctorius G&Bs.....I just bought the wrong one...

dang...i'd love one of those frogs. ITs a shame they're like $200+ at the LPS.

Look around LF....I bought mine at blackjungle.com ......but, I was able to go and pick them up at the store...so saved a wad on shipping charges. If you go to their website you can find out where they do shows. Perhaps they'll come around your area and you'll be able to pick some up for alot less than $200+

Shipping charges to Il would be $40 in the summertime and $65 in the winter. Some of the frogs aren't that expensive. Here's a link to their frog availability list...I hope it's ok to post it. I have nothing to do with the store except that I buy supplies from them...so I don't think this qualifies as spamming

You can check out some of the prices of thier frogs and see if it's something you can manage. Happy hunting :)

How poisonous are these? Could it kill a cat if one were to get loose?

legendaryfrog

dart frogs that are tank raised are not poisonous. In their natural habitat, the frogs eat ants. the toxins from these ants are stored in the dart frog for later use.
