I am going to get 3 or so pairs of platies ofr my 10 gallon tank with my 2 corys. How long would it be before they would have fry, if ever?

Well they will definately have fry I'd say a couple of weeks, theres a large chance they will be pregnant when you get them, and in about a month you're going to have a very large amount of platties on your hands . ;)

There are pretty much going to be fry in your tank almost all the time if you keep many your going to be way overstocked in like a month.
Good luck

Even just one female platy giving birth to fry is going to severely overstock your tank very quickly. Unless you have bigger grow-out tanks and a place to sell the fry, I'd avoid livebearers.

I used to breed platies. I had one breeding female and over the course of 6 months she filled 3 30 gallon grow out tanks full of fry (40-50 fry per tank).

could I keep the fry?
Sure, if you want. But you can't keep parents with fry and you also cant keep the 50 fry in a 10 gallon ;) You can use them for a variety of things, become and at home breeder and sell them, feed them to big fish you own, and keep them as pets.

haha, welcome to the world of livebearers

It shouldtn get over stocked to fas tif you dont have it planted real heavily, cause the parents will eat the majority, but you will get the satisfation of raising some
If you feel this is cruel you can raise them in a net breeder or seperate tank and then sell them or give them away(this is what im doin with my swordtials)
