UGJ question

do you mean a UGF? in that case, it is an Under gravel filter. they are plates that, like the title suggests, rest underneath your gravel and are usually connected via ump to another outet. not sure if they work as well as people say, but they dont seem to cause any real harm, ime.

Well I've seen under gravel filters, but this is an under gravel jet.... I've seen it mentioned I believe in the DYI section... Is it the same?...

UGJ = under gravel jet

mostly it improves water movement..it is a power head attached to a pipe set up that has jets in various placement along the frame.

the idea is to reduce or eliminate dead spots in the tank.

it really only has a pre-filter(foam) on the power head and is set up like a reverse flow ugf only in the way the power head is installed on the pipe.

they are very effective at moving water and eliminating dead spots especially in a larger aquarium.

Totally! I use one of these in my 250 gal Clown Loach tank. Good water moovement, and sweeps all the poop and exess food off the gravel to where the other filters can get it. Better for larger tanks.
