What to stock a 10 gal? Already have a betta

any barbs or tetras are cool. not sure if the tank is big enough tho.

many barbs and tetras are much too nippy to be kept in close quarters with a slow fish with long finnage (bettas), i would suggest maybe a pair of swords and a dwarf pleco

good luck

the dwarf pleco wont get to big for the tank?

most do...plus I have never heard of a 'dwarf pleco'
ottos
cardinal tetras
ghost shrimp
panda/dwarf/pygmy cories
A divided betta tank
all these are things you can do with a ten gal, plus many more.
dont put barbs, they will pick at your betta until he's dead or has barely any fins.

some of the smaller tetras might work (like Neons), maybe some White Clouds, some dwarf cories?

It usually depends on the betta itself. My betta doesn't like platies and african dwarf frogs (strangely), but doesn't bother the catfishes and neons.

there are dwarf plecos, bristlenose plecos only get 4'' and don't need much swimming room, also, i wouldn't keep cardinal tetras unless you are a very experienced aquarium keeper considering they are one the most delicate fish one can keep

good luck

I agree, my 20g Betta tank has a school of 6 neon cardinals, 3 bronze cories (although now I would recommend smaller variety) and 1 african froggie.

For the most part everyone leaves everyone else alone. Although I have caught the betta chase somebody or another on occation....but it is far from often. He really is a pretty calm fish.

really?
I've found cardinals to be quite hardy,I fishy cycled my 29 gal with 5,even my rummy nose tetras lived through a busted tank and ammonia problem..

There are different types of Bristlenose plecos...I have one in my 55g that is around 5 inches. They are also really messy, so I wouldn't keep them in a 10g, unless they are juveniles.

I would add a school of non-nippy tetras or rasboras. I kept Harlequin rasboras in a 10g with a betta successfully. I'd get 6. Cardinals would also work. Just choose one school of fish though. ;)

I've actually heard that Cardinals are more hardy than Neons now. It probably depends on where you get them though. Some Neons are extremely weak and very susceptible to disease.
