I was wondering if any of you know where i can buy the proper glass for building a fishtank. I have built terrariums which dont hold water so normal glass works fine but I want to move to aquariums.

I have some great ideas for tanks. One you might find interesting is an odd shape. Its kinda hard to explain. The best way to descibe it is by saying that the front pane is flat on the bottom half and then it slopes upwards for the second half. The point is to be able to see down into the tank without having to look through all the ripples.

But anyways... if you know where i can buy the proper glass for aquariums please let me know.

Any glass should work its more about the thickness of it. Tempered bottoms are better unless your doing bulk heads in the bottom because tempered can't be drilled. Do not use tempered glass for the sides of the tank because although it is a lot stonger it is much more likely to shatter from a large blow than regular glass is. Any glass shop should be able to sell you all the glass you need pre cut and you will save a signifigant amount if you are biulding a large tank. If its under 55 gallons then it will most likely be cheaper to buy it pre made.

Tempered glass can also not be cut well, so any pieces would need to be purchased pre-cut. I use just good old ordinary glass, and it has served me well.
