OK....now this is the second guppy in 2 days to have this problem....the first expired this morning....

Guppy starts to hang at the top, the spine becomes "bent" downward, and he looks like he is staying in one spot, but shaking back and forth (like a dog would roll over, but back and forth quickly). The one who started this last night kept trying to eat, but looked disoriented and kept missing the food.......................................

What are your water parameters? Ammonia Nitrite Nitrate? How ofter do you do water changes? What temp is the tank?
I always have this problem with guppy's that I buy at the LFS. I don't know if its the way they are bread in the farms or what but they always come in diseased. I usually treat with maracyn in a QT tank and they usually are fine afterwards.

The water is fine, well, the nitrates are between 40-80 but no ammonia or nitrites. water temp is 80.

If im not mistaken, 40-80 nitrate level is dangerously high...

I've wondered about this. My test kit basically says that 40 or below is okay for Nitrates.

I use the liquid test kid (i belive its the one they sell at petco by aquar. pharm.)

I do about a 30% or so once a week, but am starting to realize that this is not enough, and have bumped that up to 2x a week to see what happens.

Also, i added 1 tbsp of salt per 5 gallons last night
