Help with Wet/Dry Filter

I need help on a design to set up a wet dry system with out using an overflow box. As you can see by the picture, I made accommodations for 1" pipe in the canopy when I built it. I and planning on using a 1150 GPH external pump to run the filter system but I am not quite sure how to make the pump work with a wet/dry without a overflow box. I am open to all suggestions.......well, not really, I don't want to change the canopy if I don't need to.

I didn't like siphon over flows..I had my tank drilled on the side. inserted a bulkhead and used a 90 mpt in the bulkhead. I then ran a pipe into the refugium(in my case)

that said..you may be able to rig a pump in the tank to push water to the wet/dry or run a siphon hose(u-pipe) it's basically how the over flow works

non typical but worth experimenting..

Bad idea.

If the pumps run at a slightly different rate it will flood the house and a siphon will not restart if there is a power failure. Also, the siphon will have to flow the exact same as the pump or you'll have more flooding.


I would look into a DIY PVC overflow. I have one will less problems than regular overflow boxes.

very true..I think the DIY pvc overflow is a better idea.
