Does anyone know of a source (online or otherwise) that carries Eheim internal canister filters? I'm interested in the 20xx line (e.g., 2010). I have one, but I can't seem to find anyone that sells them now. All I see are the new Aquaball-based filters.
Thanks,
Jim

Big Al's (http://www.bigalsonline.com)
I hope that Eheim does not discontine the regular internals. They are sooo user-friendly. The easiest mechanicals filters I own.
I have not yet played with the new line - have you?

I already checked Big Als and they don't have them. Nor do Drs. Foster & Smith and ThatPetPlace.
Last time I was on the Eheim website, I couldn't find them either. I sure hope they aren't discontinued....

I'll check today or tonight and post back - this could be serious...

JSchmidt, I just took a look at the Eheim website and those Internal filters are still there. Here is the direct link http://eheim.com/Zubehoer.cgi

Boy, that is weird! I was there just a couple of days ago, and I could swear that it didn't list them... but it's clearly there now.
Now I just need to find someone that sells them...
Thanks,
Jim
Jim - go to Hawaiian Marine Imports' site and look for dealers, they are the importer. Or email them specifically for internal dealers (dealers for internals I think I mean).

I just got one of the new Aquaballs yesterday. Very nice filter.

Jim - the owner of the LFS has heard nothing about any cancellation of the existing lines. He suggested it may take a while to see - they might watch relative sales figures if they consider the products competing in the same niche. Plus they would face the ire of users of the existing line going unsupported when Eheims are supposed to be forever.

Thanks, Brandon, they do have the 2010 in stock. Funny, though, I can't find anyone else that carries them. They're SO easy to use, I'm surprised they're not more widely available.
I'm ordering a couple today...

Perhaps you could email Eheim asking for a list of distributers for that filter?

RTR:
I use the Rio line of internal filters, I was wondering how much user friendly the Eheim internals are compare to Rio? Could you please sum up a few points? I'm considering trying a different brand of internal for pure mechanical.

I can't compare the two, as I've never seen a Rio, but it is hard to imagine a filter being easier to maintain than the Eheim internal. It is comprised of basically two parts: a base that attaches to the tank wall, the bottom of which has the impeller well and motor base for the filter. The second part is a rectangular box that slides into the base.
The box contains filter foam, so to clean, all you do is slide the box off the base, pop of the lid on top, pull out the foam and rinse it, then replace. It is so easy...
HTH,
Jim
I have limited Rio experience. I had one internal Rio pump with dual prefilters which was used for high current in my white-water tank. It was not nearly as user-friendly as the current internal Eheims. But neither were the prior line of Eheim internals - I had started using internal Fluvals (the old Fluval 2 largely - not the same as the current line from that brand either) for routine mechanical, as they were more user-friendly than the then-produced Eheims. But when the newer line of Eheims came out (even numbers, the prior were odd numbers), I switched back to Eheims. They are the most user-friendly that I have tested.

also check out the fluval plus series. i use them in all my tanks (got sick of dealing with hoses and clamps with canisters) and find them very easy to use as well.
