Betta Fight?

I had my bettas (Addie & Emerald =D) in a tank with a divider in it. Well I think Emerald, being on the smaller side for a betta, somehow slipped through the divider and got in a nasty fight with Addie. But when I got in there he was back on the other side of the divider, his side..I didn't think when they start a fight one of them would retreat :huh: Anyway, Addie was kind of floating on his side..he is ok now but has tiny rips on the very bottom of his fins. (this happened last night by the way). A few of Emeralds fins are ripped to be half the size and one of them grew this fungus stuff on it, this puffy clear stuff. Well when I was catching him in the net to put him in one of the betta cups bettas are avaliable at the store in the fungus came off in the net. So now his fins are just ripped. What are the chances of him slipped through the divider, getting in a fight, and retreating to his own side?
I am very confused:confused: :huh:
 
Okee..well what do I do to help their fins??

bettas are pretty hardy and their fins should heal fine naturally. you can always add melaix to help with the healing prcoess. my bettas got into an accidental fight once and both of their fins have healed (well except for one of them, he never had beautiful fins to begin with....)
 
i have a divider in my betta tank and there really isnt a way for them to get each other, unless they jump over. They mostly just stare at each other through the divder and the male flares himself. The divider we have is adjusting, we just had to cut the screen and make sure its snug against the wall.

Yeah, if you have a divider, you need to allow about half an inch to an inch of open space above the water level or they will jump it eventually. Most conventional dividers are pretty crap.
