I am looking for more light in my Eclipse System 12 - the 13W bulb just isn't cutting it. I noticed that Coralife makes compact fluorescents that come in higher wattages and they have a standard medium base. Does anyone know how I might go about modifying my hood to put a standard base bulb in??? Also, are there any concerns with heat buildup using this kind of bulb?
Thanks,
Angela
You can probably add a standard socket into it pretty easily. Here's a mod I did on three of my hoods, one has two CF bulbs added. I just tapped into existing power, and added a lamp socket ($1.50 @ home despot). A little bit of dremelling later, here's the result:

On the hood I added two bulbs to I did drill a few extra vents holes, the singles don't seem like they're putting out enough heat to warrant that yet.
