I had eggs in my tank (about 500) that I saw get fertelized. The problem is that this happened three days ago and now the fry are gone. I can tell that my eggs hatched but there's no fry to be seen. Are they not free swimming right away? Does the mother hide them from the male so he doesn't eat them? I was at school when they hatched so I have no idea were they could be. It's a female flowerhorn and a male texas.

did you actually witness the fertilization by the male? i believe most in not all 'flower horns' are sterile, in which case the eggs were eaten.

that said, it's typical of most cichlid species to 'move'/hide newly hatched fry. if this is your case, you should see them in about a week being guarded by mom.

I can see were the eggs have hatched. The bootom half of all the eggs are still on the rock. I've seen cichlids eat them before and most of the tim ethey don't leave any egg peices...this time however they did and I don't have any idea were they could be....though teh mother has been entering a cave that I've ever seen her go in before
