Which do you think are more fun, easier to take care of and generally good fish. I want to stock my tank with some smaller fish such as Guppies or Tetras or any other good small fish you can think of. I used to keep Guppies a long time ago and Neon Tetras even longer ago and just wondering which I should get next.
I know that I can only get some kind of Tetras as they are egg layers.
which kind would be best?

I have a 25 gallon

(you can see what other kind of fish I have and see the compatibility)

thanks for any help you can offer!!

For your tank I think a group of small tetras would be best, since you don't have any schooling fish. If you do go with guppies make sure to only get males, because just one female can cause a population overload within months... they breed like crazy.

4 or 5? because I've heard that schooling fish are supposed to stay in groups of 4-5 and would any kind of tetra be okay?

Get 5. Go with smaller, peaceful varieties like neon, black neon, glowlight, or rummy nose.

My sailfin Molly or Pearl Gourami won't attack them will they? because I have heard that they will pick on smaller fish like these

No. The molly is completely peaceful, and the gourami only gets territorial with fish similar to itself.

I vote tetras.

your tank can't handle any more fish IMO.

Hmm.. thats a hard decision. Personally, I prefer guppies. I have had bad experiences with the basic neon tetra. They are pretty sickly and inbreed over here. They also don't seem to be as active. Maybe you could consider minnows? I adore the bright colors and active attitude of my Golden Clouds.
