Filtration

I just ordered a 90 gallon aquarium that will eventually house a Tiger Oscar and was wanting opinions on what the best filtration would be.I was leaning toward the Millenium 3000 but i've seen a few posts that say it might not be the best choice.

I don't know anything about cannister filters, so any imformation would be greatly appreciated. :confused:

Millenium's work fine, I'd just use more than one. If you were going to go the HOB route, I'm a big fan of AquaClears. An AC 500 and an AC 300 should cover you just fine, providing that you do weekly water changes, which really is a must just because it is an oscar. If you're going the canister way, I've had good luck with the Fluvals we use at work, so maybe two 204s or two 304s would work. I'm not really a fan of the Magnums, however I do use a H.O.T. model on my 55 and I really like it. Hope this helps.

Thank you for the quick reply.I'm picking up the tank Sat. and I am getting excited to get it cycling.Never had a tank this big before.:D

I have a millenium 1000 for my 10gal, and I LOVE it. I think it does an excellent job. It's also super easy to clean IMO.

Two things I'd say are cons about it:

1) I have some trouble finding replacement cartridges for it in my area (I either get my father to mail them to me from my old LFS or order online). You may not have this problem though.

2) If the power goes out you have to refill the chamber with water again manually.

I can't say about the 3000, but like I said, I'm very happy with mine.

i have six different kinds of HOBs and my favorite filter is still my Fluval 404 w/Marineland biowheel pro 60 on the output. getting ready to add another to my 125 and trash the Whisper 5.:cool:
