Well I will be adding my first fish to my new tank this weekend with the help of Bio Spira. What is the best method to add them? I always here about putting the bag in the tank for 20 minutes so the temp of the bag can match that of the tank.

What about mixing the water from the tank to the water from the bag?

I was thinking of getting a small bucket and pouring all the bag water into it along with the fish and then slowly adding tank water over a 30 minute period until the amount of tank water is about double that of the bag water. Then using a net to transfer them over to the tank and leaving all the bag water behind. Does that sound right or is it overkill? Thanks all.

I do the bucket method but slowly add the water from the tank for a period of about one hour. This method helps to reduce some of the stress that can be put on the fish during moves.

What I did was let it float about 15 mins, opened the bag, drained about half the water into a bucket, clipped the bag with the fish inside my tank, added some tank water, 10 minutes later, I draineed about half again and filled it with tnak water. Im not sure how many times i did it but they used bag buddies and I didnt want blue in my tank so did it till it was pretty much clear

the bucket method is the best way to go in my opinion, but doing this method you prevent any intoxicants that might be in your LFS water from getting in your tank. The only thing that gets in from thier tank is the fish.

I've always just soaked the bag 30min, cut it pen, scooped the fish witht he net to keep out the LFS water and put him in, never had a loss from it

However, the bucket method def. seems safer and easier on the fish.
