Two days ago I was watching one of my tanks, and saw two of the platies get into a row. One of them got a dorsal fin split to the base from this "fight". Today I was watching them and the fin is completely healed. You wouldn't know that it was freshly split all the way through just a few days ago.

Yikes! One of my fancy guppies had his tail fin split by an agressive mickey mouse platy. His fin growing back, but its been way more than 2 weeks. Platy and several fry went to my LFS 2 weeks ago so I wouldn't have to send the offender to a watery grave (just kidding, I made sure they would take them first). I treated with Melafix and Pimafix for 10 days as a precaution against infection.

my angels fight and get spit fins pretty often..all they really need is clean water.

my tanks get 2 30-40% water changes per week. split fins usually don't ast all that long.

my wild angels had ammonia burns on their fins..they are all healed up but it took a couple week. I've seen fish with serious fin damage heal within a few weeks(4-6 in some cases)
