My female guppy has given birth 3 times. First there were 12 fry, all very small in size. In a few weeks there were 3 more fry, but these were fairly large. In another few weeks, just one more fry appeared, tiny but very active. All the fry are alive and healthy - there are 5 from the first batch in a friend's tank (7 got eaten before I got plants for them to hide in), and the 4 from the 2nd and 3rd births are in my tank and growing well. In any case, this goes against everything I've heard about guppy births - I thought the idea was that they give birth to dozens at once?

Are you sure some of them are not still getting eaten? Depending on her size, though, she may not be having a lot at once. If she's a young guppy she may just be having a few.

No they are definitely not getting eaten. The female is pretty large, I'd say about 2".
