White things on glass

I have white spiral things on the front sides and back of my tank. What are they? Are they beneficial? Is there a way to get rid of them because they make my tank look really dirty?

sounds like Little Spiral Feather Duster worm. same thing i have got. from what iam told they are filter feeders, so are probably beneficial. check the

I get these alot on the back glass. I even see them popping up on the backs of snails.

All above statements are true, they are in fact feather dusters. Ive lost count on how many ive seen in my 15 gal nano. but the seem to camp out everywhere.:)
