I have setup a new fish tank. Its a 55 gallon and I let it run for 1 week. I started to add fish 4 oscars, 2 plecos, a green terror and three catfish. They all started to get signs of ich. Most of them have died. For the last week I have been using ich treatment and nothing seems to be working. Could this be ammonia poisoning? Should I remove all the fish and start over? Please let me know what I should be doing.

I think ammonia poisoning is quite possible with such large waste-producers in an uncycled tank, but they were probably also stressed by overcrowding. Those two factors together would definitely cause a lot of problems.

Do some massive H2O changes, and try treating the fish for ich, but you'll probably end up having to start over. When you do that, read up on fishless cycling before breaking down and restarting the tank, follow through on that process, and hopefully it will go better next time.

So all the fish are gone now, I did a 50 % water change and put the carbon filters back in. How long should I let it set before adding fish? I am only going to add two at first like I am supposed to. I just want to make sure all the ich parasite is gone before adding fish. Also, would it me insane to put a jack demhpsey, a green terror, and an oscar all in the same tank?
